The desire to be in a state of isolation, to be detached from our surroundings, in a place of our own, even when surrounded by other people. This series is an observation of people and places, those who manage to detach themselves from what surrounds them and inhabit a realm of their own and places that suggest or provoke feelings of solitude. A personal interpretation of the process of taking pictures as being a solitary act. Where the photographer plays the role of the silent observer. A collection of 35mm, 120 and digital photographs shot between Turkey, Latvia, Germany, Cairo and Saint Catherine. The layout of the book plays a little game of directing the viewer’s eye to small details in the photographs, that otherwise would go unnoticed. Now the viewer plays the role of the observer.
